Speculative Philosophy

Speculative Poetics in New York
16:00New York University, Room 22219 University Place10003 New York City

A seminar with Speculative Poetics hosted by Poetics and Theory: Armen Avanessian and Anke Hennig (Freie Universität Berlin)

Philosophy thinks as literature, literature posits theories, and language is itself a form of knowledge: speculative language (Derrida), ontological poetics (Podoroga), and literary expertise (Erb) are all immanently connected. This connection can only bear fruit through a collaboration of writers, literary theorists, and practitioners of speculative philosophy.

Readings: G.W.F. Hegel, The Phenomenology of Spirit (Preface), and Catherine Malabou, The Future of Hegel: Plasticity, Temporality and Dialectic (Chap. 12). Please email Liza Blake (liza.blake@nyu.edu) or Charles Gelman (cmg348@nyu.edu) for electronic copies of the readings.
